I just want to direct your attention to two blogs below that I’ve chosen as our featured 27J Praxis blogs. I’ve pulled their feeds at the bottom of the page to highlight recent posts; but really feel that these sites are worth checking out. Here are links to them:

  • Library Lady’s Musings (http://www.27jpraxis.org/librarylady) – Here we have Tiah Frankish (Library Media Coordinator at Prairie View High School) highlighting a number of of adolescent titles that she has read lately (which is quite an extensive list) and attempting to engage students at PVMS to discuss the books with her.
  • Adventures in Social Studies (http://www.27jpraxis.org/mrosbourn/) – Tim Osbourn at Vikan Middle has managed not only to engage his students in a lively content-based conversation about Social Studies, he also highlights his recent trip to Korea with a number of reflections and images.  What I think is cool is that he was able to communicate with his students from abroad, helping them expand their world view.

I’ve also added some content to the 27J Praxis home page in an attempt to draw in content and potential readers.  At the top, you’ll notice a link to a page titled “The 27J Conversation.”  What I’ve created (using Yahoo Pipes) is a feed from the entire 27J blogging community – a bit disorganized, yes, but a great stream of conversation from all over the district.  As I learn of more 27J Bloggers, I’ll add them to the feed.

If you have a blog, please submit it at http://27jbloggers.pbworks.com/.  If you would like a professional blog, please visit our registration site at http://27jpraxis.org/wp-signup.php (please use your district email address in the form).  If you need help getting this going, please drop me an email (you can find me by searching Outlook – Ian Jones) or comment on this post.  Because I believe in the power of conversation, collaboration and the sharing of ideas (among staff and students) and have seen results in districts around the country, I am more than happy to assist you in any way possible.
